Overland Park, KS - Hey kids, Overland Park is the place to be.
Overland Park was among 2,000 communities considered by U.S. News & World Report when it determined "America's 10 Best Places to Grow Up."

Community attributes that were considered included low crime rate, strong school system, expansive green spaces to play in, plenty of nearby family events and an abundance of artistic and recreational activities.
"Overland Park has always been a destination for families. Survey after survey shows that education and a safe community are important," Mayor Carl Gerlach said.
"Add in the new Overland Park Soccer Complex and its 12 fields with synthetic turf next to the highly popular and nationally recognized Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, and you can see why Overland Park earned this distinction," Gerlach added. "Overland Park has a lot to offer families, and grandparents, who sometimes help care for youngsters."
The soccer complex officially opens for business Tuesday, Sept. 1. There is a public grand opening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the complex, 135th and Switzer.
"I invite everyone to come see the soccer complex, visit the new entrance at the Farmstead, and take in a short stroll along the adjacent bike/hike trail," Gerlach said.
